People! Advice on Where to Move Please!

Dear People,

I would appreciate some suggestions on where to move to.

I am exceedingly discouraged by the town I live, the state I live, and even the country I live in.

I will kick the dust off my shoes as I leave each one.

I am a hard worker, love to laugh, love to play guitar and sing, love nature and "the outdoors," I've been recyling since the 1970's, I've been gardening since the 1980's, I've been a computer user since 1979, more info upon request.

I feel the same way Salt! But as the realization has dawned, so has the meaning of 'hell on earth'. There will most certainly be an exit day but until then....we gotta make the best of it we can.

No matter where I am I try to make the best of it. :-)

However, I have very few things tying me down. At least compared to many people. Never married, no kids, not a lot of stuff.

But where I live now, albeit a place where many claim to love, I have heard more disparagement than friendship, more greedy talk than love. It’s wearing me out.

It’s possible I could talk myself into staying in the U.S. and moving to one of those areas in the so-called “Rust Belt” that are near desolate with people and full of abandoned homes. But even though my needs are modest, I still need some form of income to pay the bills. So I guess it’s a matter of finding an organization where I fit, and a community that is accepting and doesn’t view me as someone from on high to tell them how to fix themselves.

I think I would like to be a part of the community gardening movement, helping local folks learn more about planting their own food, using empty lots, testing the soil, selling extra food to restaurants, etc…

The biggest problem I have is I would still be a part of a system that has no problem throwing tens and hundreds of billions of dollars at wasteful and idiotic corporations that blithely ignored common sense for decades, money that seems to have just gone in the pockets of people who are already grossly overpaid. A system that has no problem promising gargantuan “assistance” donations to foreign lands, but, in essence, tells us citizens we are lazy and looking for a handout. A system that props up so many companies that prey on humanity with weaponry, war, and the like because those are “high paying” jobs involving technology.

Is this really the “land of the free and home of the brave?” Seems more like the land of cowards who are afraid and need to create an insane amount of weapons, a land that’s a police state where everyone is mistrusted.

I guess there is a larger-scheme reason for all of this. My thought is that God is just waiting for the people in power, and the people drenched in money to continue proving they do not deserve it, at least it seems most of them are that way. I’m kind of sad now, in case you haven’t guessed.

Frankly I hate hearing “our best days are ahead” when I don’t hear any effort to overcome my complaints above, or suggestions. I only see coming disasters. The blind are leading the blind and telling them “everything is going to be OK.” Lipstick on a pig, lipstick on a pitbull.

Cheer up Salt.
It sounds as if a change of scenery is a good idea!
I don’t think you are in need of suggestions…..you seem to have plenty of great ideas.
Maybe you should just go someplace and form your own organization; your own community.
Sewing good seed in the community makes for a wonderful day any day!
I see many of the same things you have described in my own community as well but there are always those who don’t travel that road…at least not for too long.
The ‘human’ condition ie; greed, disparagement…may be present in all of us time to time, but it is not prevalent in all individuals so don’t be too disheartened. There is indeed One who is in control and one day every knee will bow.
Truth is…all we have is this moment. And perhaps everything is not going to be ok, and maybe disasters will come too….:(
It is my strong opinion that this young country will self destruct in it’s narcissism before it ever has a chance to out grow it. THIS country needs good seed sewers.
If you are looking for someplace to go….just go where God leads you.

Hey ya NOS!,
Thought Id drop by. Took a quick glance at you web page here, from this and reading your postd on leap..I like ya. You got alot to say.

Now moving is problematic. I agree,I too would love to catch the first ferry off this rock of ours. I like the town I live in, could be better if certain laws were changed, but thats what we are all working on. I to am having troubles dealing with what our leaders are doing to us and this country. If there were a better country to move to I would ..but, where would that be?

I think I will just hang in there. I'm hoping that the people of this nation are waking up. Hoping we can change the direction of things. Hoping to kick our government to the back seat where it belongs so we AMericans can get on with caring for one another. I sick of being told to tighten my belt while our leaders waste what I need to get on in life.

Anywhooo.., I will put you page in favorites and look it over in more depth later on,ol' eyeballs are tired from too much web reading.

Your thoughts are always welcome NOS!

Hey NOS,

Thought I'd drop by,like what I see, you do like to write!

Any way as far as moving,I would like to take the first ferry off this rock too,but go where? Nothing looks appealing, I like where I live, just need a few laws changed. Some of which we are working on. I am sick of what is going on in this country. Hope these town hall protests continue to the point of our leaders changing . We need them to get out of our lives and stop wasting what we need to get on with life. They need to stop the cruel waste of life period.

Anyway , I'll look you site over in more depth later. Eyes are tired from too much web reading.

Hey , can ya help me with that "referrer" thing on my web broweser?

Thanks for your support. I try to stay focused on the underlying issues, philosophical, and religious perspectives. I have tried hard to keep it from being an ephemeral blog of pointers to aging news items.

Please consider voting on the various polls. :-) In the side bar is a poll. You can vote there, and click the arrows to page through the various polls, or click Vote at the top of the page to see them listed there.

With regard to comment alerts… I have tried a few options. I think I will try to reconstruct the "Recent Comments Page" so it can be seen at a glance which items have comments. In the mean time I created a block called Recent Comments that can be used to see the recent comments. You can also go into "My Account" and track things there too.

Suggestions for essays welcome.
