My Letter to Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP)

Recently I registered at a site called LEAP. Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. You can find them on the web here: http://www.LEAP.cc/

During the registration process there is a field to type in additional information. It's not entirely clear where that information shows up, perhaps on my user information page. In any case, I figured I would post what I wrote here, on this web site. --- Update. After registering I find my rather lengthy "Other Information" was trimmed to just the first paragraph! :-) Oh well, here is my welcome email I wrote for them and visitors to their web site.

I used to think only all-natural, unadulterated gifts from God should not be illegally called illegal, especially for religious use by those who know the truth (1 Timothy 4:1-5).

However, totally independent of LEAP, I came to the conclusion that we are wasting untold billions of dollars, trashing the planet, trashing other societies, trashing people's lives, and that most people would not "do drugs" if they were legal anyway.

My conclusion is this needs to be rectified and I am not interested in a public vote since it seems they were illegally made illegal without a public vote in the first place. (Read more here.) Again, totally independent of LEAP, I wrote a US Representative, on more than one occasion, before this most recent anniversary of the repeal of alcohol prohibition (the anniversary of which I was made aware of through this site), and told him I thought the US govt. needed to do the same thing for, at least, marijuana, mushrooms, peyote, and other all-natural, unadulterated, unrefined plants. However, after educating myself some more from the LEAP site and related sites, I am ready to go along with their expanded view.

Vicious murderers, rapists, torturers, unrepentant fraudsters, et al, need to be behind bars, not drug addicts or casual users.

Like the thrust of this web site, I am not advocating cocaine, heroin, pills, and other refined products. In fact, I avoid refined sugar and white flours and have for over two decades. But I DO NOT force my choices or will on others, I inform and help educate. Like the thrust of this web site I am not advocating drug use, I AM saying it should not be an illegal, fineable, and prisonable offense.

DO NOT be deceived by Reverend Hair Spray. There are many blind guides spewing lies, read more in 1 Timothy 4:1-5. Also http://www.NewOldSalt.com/Good_Food

And DO NOT be deceived by big pharma and chemical companies that work to extract from God's green earth (which it trashes and tries to claim ownership of through patents), then refines it and puts it in pill form. Of course they will scorn what they do not sell, as salesmen do.

We must rise above the kindergarten level logic that just because we want to abolish the prohibition on drugs, it means we want to turn everyone in a drug addict.

Freeing them from the literal prisons they are in, so the serious addicts can be helped to be freed from the mental prisons they are in, is the solution. Jesus came to free the captives, he DID NOT say to jail people over such things. Luke 4:18

In conclusion, I AM NOT saying, "if you can't beat them join them."

I AM saying, "the best way to yank the rug out from under corruption and outrageous unsustainable drug war budgets is to end drug prohibition." AND there are many other benefits to individuals and societies as well.

Our own government has fanned the flames of hypocrisy and corruption, elsewhere and here. IT'S TIME TO STOP! I say take the "LEAP" of faith and put your trust in these folks who have first-hand experience and have come to see the light.

(Since I can sense various cynics ready to attack me... What's my "favorite drug"? A plant native to India and Pakistan. Psyllium husk fiber! Taken daily! http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Psyllium_seed_husks I was "turned on" to it back in my 20's, I'm in my 40's now and thank my mother often for sharing some with me. However, the sad fact is it's hard to find without sucrose or artificial sweeteners, food colorings, and other adulterations. I use it responsibly. :-)

I will write more later. But in the mean time, please check out their site. There is lots of information to read, listen to, and watch.

Right On. I especially appreciate the Bible paraphrases, great idea. I think it is high time that these hypocrits had some "education" about their own Book that they seem to be so ignorant of yet hold their so-called Christianity up before us as a sign of their supposed superiority! -als

Thank you. Yes. Alas, als, many people do not know much about the Bible. Unfortunately there is a tendency to worship the Bible instead of giving it the respect it deserves.

And on the other hand, other folks simply reject it out-of-hand in a very unscientific manner, I mean, it doesn't make sense to scorn stuff one is ignorant about, that's akin to racism. Should it be called Bookism? Religionism? :-)

In fact, I believe a case could be made that the Bible, or even religion in general, can have an even more deleterious effect on people than "drugs." I mean, for a novice reader/user to take too big a dose at once, without any supervision, can lead to some very radical, and unpleasant, behavioral changes.

In the context of Judaism, it's written Jesus called out some of the religious leaders of his day and called them sons of hell, and their converts were twice as much sons of hell. Matthew 23:15

In the context of Christianity, there are people so against the abortion of fetuses, they kill grown people. In fact that Rudolph character who was finally caught, blew up the Birmingham Planned Parenthood when I was living only a block or two away from it!

In the context of Islam there are kids in prison who have been caught in suicide attempts. Their not-formally-educated dads sent them to madrases, who then taught these impressionable minds that killing others is the will of God. I can't help but believe that many of these poor farmers cry themselves to sleep every night at the sadness of loosing their children to such hatred. I would even say that the radical Islamists are practicing a form of prohibition that is failing just like our failed alcohol prohibition, and current prohibition on drugs. They prohibit, in large part, other religions, and even moderate forms of Islam. They are their own worst enemies.

However, just like I am not in favor of the prohibition of drugs, I am also not in favor of the prohibition of religion. We do, or at least should, have a Constitutional right to make these decisions ourselves, and pursue "life, liberty, and happiness" as we see fit, as long as we do not cause physical harm to others. If people don't want to believe in a God, fine, that's their right. If the nauseous person feels better after smoking marijuana, fine, that's their right.

Sharing one's opinions and beliefs is only natural, and can be a very good thing. FORCING or LEGISLATING them on others IS NOT.
