During the Jewish New Year I read the prescribed readings and found I was directed to this story in 1 Samuel 1:1 - 2:10.
The reason I add this note here, under this poll, is it seems to answer the above question.
In the story fragment in 1 Samuel, a woman is very sad because she has no children and others are teasing her greatly due to that. She goes to pray at the temple and just "mouths" the words, she does not pray out loud. Scripture says that she is not talking audibly, but moves her mouth anyway. [1 Samuel 1:12-13]
A priest who is near by sees her, and goes to accuse her of being on drugs, specifically alcohol. She does not tell the priest what she is praying over but explains that she is not drunk, but is praying to God. The priest tells her he hopes her prayers to God come true.
She leaves. But...
She returns not too many years later...
What happens?
Does she meet the priest who spoke with her the first time she went?
Does she go alone?
Does she tell anyone what she prayed about on her previous time there?
