Search Queries 2008-06
Search engines can recommend this web site, and do. However, this is not a heavily trafficked web site; this is a pro and a con.
Since I am a very, very, very, small fish, and running this site for free, I can't afford to have it heavily trafficked. But on the other hand, I am eager for folks to read what I offer and think about it.
Some might say that I should sell advertising on it. Hm, I really do not like that idea. Some might say I should try to gather names and as much information about visitors, then sell that to advertisers, NEVER!
That said, today I will go over the search queries that have caused folks to visit this web site. This list is in no particular order.
1. "spelling of proslytize"
Hm, I don't think have that word at all on my web site, so I'm not sure why that person visited. However, I will be useful and include the correct spelling: proselytize. I guess that person visited because something else about my site seemed interesting, hooray!
What does this say about my attitude towards proselytization? Well, the dictionary I am using now, defines proselytization as converting someone from one belief/religion/opinion to another. I guess I do engage in that. But guess what? We all do. The difference is in how we try to get others to see our point of view, or change their opinion. I like to use questions and reasons, I am not a fan of browbeating others. If I am having trouble convincing someone, I ask questions, or wait until better reasons pop in my head.
I will let my web site speak for itself. :-)
2. "bible versus:treat others as you would like to be treated"
Hm... someone else who needs help spelling. :-) However, I am guessing the search engine recommended my site based on my article about The Golden Rule. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it. :-)
3. "declaration of independence"
Yes, you can find the Declaration of Independence at my web site! Not only that, but you can find a version I am in the process of updating in to 21st century language! And not only that, but I offer it to you to download, for free, so you can update the language yourself, or your children, or your students, or...
4. "irons sharpens iron"
Hm... I can't recall if I've used this, one of my favorite sayings, in any articles yet. Maybe it's in a comment. The above search query is a fragment from a proverb, you can find it in Proverbs 27:17.
This web site is in existence due to that proverb and another piece of advice found in the Bible! How cool is that?!
5. "the original names of the days"
I am guessing this person landed on my site due to my humorous article, a fake press release, that the members of the Hyper Conservative Congregation (HCC) were changing the names of the days of the week. Looking for a laugh? Read it.
6. "defending yourself against lies"
While I do not directly address this, my sense is this person came to the site due to the article I wrote titled "Defending Yourself Against the Offensive" which is really an article about keeping your sanity during verbal abuse and preventing yourself from being dragged down to lower hate-filled and confusion-filled places.
Sorry to say, but there is not much you can do to defend yourself against lies except for being open, honest, and having clear and logical reasons for doing what you do. Even if you do those things, people still can, and will, lie about you. Only after God sends Jesus back to fix things can we rest assured we will no longer have to face lies, until then...well read the article for what I think is my best advice.
That's It!
So far those are the non-multitudinous reasons I can find that folks have visited this web site. If you've come in some other way and would like to leave a message you can! Nearly every page has a comments section. :-)
