US Constitution Update 2008-12-12

Added Amendments & Minor Update

I haven't had much time to work on one of my favorite projects, updating our Founding Documents.

But I realized I hadn't included the Amendments to the US Constitution in the documents I've published here, so I took care of that oversight. So now, when you inspect the online version, and the downloaded versions, the Amendments are included right after the Constitution.

Some Progress Made

In addition to that there is a minor update.

During this past election in 2008, I, like many, were refocused on the First Amendment. I took a stab at trying to figure it out and re-writing it in plain English. I'm averagely-happy with it, I think it can be improved some more, but don't have the time at the moment, so have left it as-is.

Update - First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Congress shall not establish a state religion. Congress shall not prevent people from following their religious convictions, as long as those religious beliefs do not conflict with this Constitution.

Congress shall honor the freedom of citizens to speak publicly, peaceably assemble, and publish.

Congress shall pass no laws preventing people from seeking justice from the government.

Conclusion

As before, I am open to your input. And I encourage you to download the latest version so you can update the language for yourself.
