One of the hardest things to understand is the irony that being mistreated can end up being such a blessing.
This not an invitation to "bless" others by mistreating them, follow The Golden Rule, treat others the way you want to be treated.
This is not an invitation to seek out situations where you lead others to temptation, or you fall for others' attempts to lead you in to temptation.
However, this is meant to be encouragement to fellow believers, fellow believers in justice, and that God prevails.
Some people mis-interpret the saying I am about to analyze.
It's written [Matthew 5:10-12] Yeshua (Jesus) said:
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things about you falsely on account of me. Rejoice and be glad because your reward is great in heaven, for they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.
I think it's true that anyone who is mistreated is being blessed (the so-called "Blessing in disguise", that God can take the 'lemons' in our lives and make lemonade). Since Jesus is all truth; when someone who is a Hindu speaks the truth, that's Yeshua (Jesus) coming out of the lips. When that same person is speaking a lie, that is not Yeshua (Jesus) coming out of the lips then.
It doesn't matter how the DNA of the person is fashioned, when that person lies, that is not Yeshua (Jesus) coming out, when that person speaks the truth, it is Yeshua (Jesus) coming out. The same holds true if the person is not Hindu, but atheist, Jewish, Muslim, Christian, etc... or male, or female, young or old, etc... I hope you understand my point.
With regard to the second paragraph I quoted, some folks say that this only refers to people being persecuted because they were trying to proslytize or convert others to Yeshua (Jesus), or they were otherwise being overt about "the name of Jesus". That is not correct.
Do they think God's angels do not offer protection to children who have not uttered certain words the adults attribute to "being saved"? [Matthew 18:10-14] [Luke 11:9-13] Or that God holds a grudge and does belittling things to others for His amusement? [Read Luke 11:9-13 again.] Certainly he would not do that since it's written Yeshua (Jesus) even said that all blasphemies and sins committed by people against him would be forgiven! [Matthew 12:31] God's eager love for us is sincere and true.
They overlook another statement near a quote they love so much, Yeshua said he was "the truth". [John 3:16-17, John 14:6] That means all truth, truth is not divided...remember how he said that too? [Luke 11:14-20] [John 13:20]
Not only that, but he advised us to show love to our enemies and pray for people who persecute us. [Matthew 5:44] The rewards from that far surpass any earthly pleasures.
Another belief and "argument" for my logic is that since Yeshua (Jesus) subjected himself to undeserved abuse, he knew that he would be lifted up and have the earth as his footstool. [Psalm 110:1] I am not saying Yeshua (Jesus) sought to be abused, so I am not saying you or anyone should look to be abused.
Even thought many malicious acts are undeserved, and end up being a blessing in the end, unfortunately some malicious acts are not pitied, and considered "deserved". However, I still say that in both cases, Yeshua's advice is to not repay meanness with meanness, but to try to educate the party of its wrong logic/behavior; I would add that whether the punishment that's inflicted on you is deserved or not, stay focused on the goal of praying for your enemies and folks who persecute you.
:-) If Hollywood's taught us anything it's that while the hero may be abused early and often, and in Non-Golden Rule ways, in the end the hero is lifted up and the folks who did persecuting are ashamed and greatly reduced in stature.
Yes, my reasoning, directly and through the center, is against terrorism; the logic above is diametrically opposed to terrorism.
Terrorism is not pleasing to God. There are appropriate ways to address your grievances, all of them involve communication, speaking clearly and to the right people, not murdering fellow living beings.
And to come back to the main point, if you are being oppressed or others are being oppressed, and no humans are doing anything constructive and mature to stop it, God will. Even if it takes "as long" as it takes Judgement Day to get here. God will take the oppressed who didn't terrorize their oppressors, and raise them up. The people who enjoyed an easy life at others expense, will find themselves as servants, or worse, etc... [Luke 16:19-31]
They can fool and overpower others (humans, animals, and the planet) with might, money, and corrupt logic, but they can't fool God. If humans don't catch them and bring them to justice, God will. That's his promise.
They will pay, "every last penny", as Jesus says [Luke 12:59], don't you fret about how God will punish and bring them to justice, you should seek to do good. [Matthew 7:7-11]
They may say "That money's spent" as a reason not to repay their wrongs. But what is spent, is their interest in seeking righteousness more than their own self interests.
However, God has his way of making people "pay", so don't you go out and seek revenge. Look first, for his kingdom and righteousness. [Matthew 7:7-11] So you can reap love, sow love. Don't sow terror, fear, divisiveness, etc.. you will not like your crop.
You have to be strong, because no doubt, you will be persecuted yet again by the people who are standing around and laughing that you are not kicking ass and taking revenge. They will say mean things like you must have deserved it, if you were wronged, you should take revenge, that you are a wimp, a coward, etc... Don't let them lead you in to hate.
