'People who made us suffer will pay'

People who made us suffer will pay’ is part of the headline over at CNN about a recent killing spree in Alabama.

Why am I writing this? For a few reasons.

  1. Most religious systems acknowledge that people who cause others to suffer will pay. At least Christianity advises that God is the only one who should administer vengeance, other religious systems may advise likewise.
  2. Not everyone who points out that ‘people who made us suffer will pay’ or ‘people who cause suffering will pay’ is going to be the judge, jury, and executioner.
  3. I, myself, have written and said on numerous occasions similar sayings. Basically I was paraphrasing Yeshua and angry at an injustice done to me, or others, and trying to bring a sense of pending justice. But I advise others against taking matters into their own hands, and I advise taking to heart Yeshua’s advice that we pray for people who cause us to suffer.

Jesus is the prime example of how we are to face suffering. The most the evil-doer(s) who are causing suffering can do is kill the body, after that our suffering stops, and God will bring us back to life in Heaven. Jesus advised that the only one to be afraid of is God, not humans, since God not only has the power to kill your body, but the power to toss us in Hell [Luke 12:4-5].

(There are a number of essays on this web site where I go into more detail about this. There are also some essays on this web site where I am angry and very much point out that those who have caused us to suffer WILL PAY! And you bet I mean it! At some point I’ll revisit this page and link to them, or organize my pamphlet hierarchy to categorize them better.)
