Stating — perhaps — the obvious, you can find the answer in either the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution. I can hear you groaning! Cheer up! I'll make it easier for you. :-)

The answer is in either the opening paragraphs or closing paragraphs of one of those documents. Hey, now don't beat me up, they're definitely worth reading! :-)
