Separation of Church and State - Quick Update
I don't have time to write the next installment of this series, which only consists of one article so far. :-)
But I have been provoked by some folks on religious TV stations to put out a quick update. (However, in fairness I will also add that I have seen another person on another religious station, defend my previous article.)
Extensions of this article have been growing in my mind for a while. Just to be clear, the whole point of that article was not to condemn Christianity, or any religion, or to invite any religion to take over. The astute reader will notice the point of that article is, as long as we have some semblance of a democracy with some semblance of majority rule, it is not in our society's (or others) best interest for us to be like a reed blowing in the wind, bowing to whatever segment of Christianity happens to have the most people of voting age.
Let's pretend that the founders said something like "Christianity will be our state religion." Ok, so next there would be a million battles over every big and tiny nuance of how to implement various policies, what Jesus meant about this or that, and so forth. If you think I'm joking, then you obviously haven't been paying attention to the number of churches, Christian religious institutions that exist. Is it one? Ha! If only. We must have patience.
It is my contention that until Jesus comes back and sets up an honest government with God's real laws, and appoints leaders, etc..., government should be kept out of the realm of religion as much as possible. Hm...how far off am I from the founding fathers on this, the ones you pay so much lip service to? NONE!
Maybe you feel like you're taking flack from your Muslim associates who tease you that they have a governance system where they "put God at the center", and all we have is a Godless system. Give me a break. One of the very points of keeping religion out of government is to prevent corrupt religions from taking over due to a baby boom. Besides Muslims beliefs are counter to our form of government through the very First Amendment, our government and our Christian religion does not believe in taxing (extracting money from) people because they have a different view of God than we do.
I will have to try to find links later, but I have heard it many times, that "Muslim countries" do their best (or at least the Qur'an demands) to drive out any other religion through such corrupt treatment like taxing a person just because he is Christian, or a Jew, or whatever, or not allowing them in various parts of the country, as though the Christian would make it "unclean".
We Agree On So Much Already! Stop Acting Like We Have Huge Differences!
Clearly MANY of the values incorporated in to the US founding documents, and some later additions, ARE ONE AND THE SAME with Christianity. I never disputed this, and do not. In fact it was going to be the next article, until I felt like someone read my first article and decided to give a perverted representation of it, so I wrote this one in the mean time.
Want updates sooner? Contact me, send me some serious amount of money, and I will write more. It will not be a bribe, I will still write what I think God wants me to write. However, I expect the next update to be around the 4th of July; but we'll see. BTW - This is not some greedy money grab on my part, I am very very poor.
